Business-class 14-inch laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0-inch business laptop built around an Intel Core i5-8350U processor with four cores and 6MB of L2 cache. It ships with 32GB of DDR4 memory and a 512GB NVMe drive running Windows 10 Pro. The FHD panel shows 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. This configuration suits office workers and mobile professionals who need a ready-to-go Windows machine.

Thermals noise and power draw

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory and keeps heat output modest during typical productivity workloads. Quad-core U-series silicon at 1.7GHz base frequency is designed for thin-and-light chassis, so fan activity stays low during document editing, email and web browsing. The 512GB NVMe SSD has no moving parts, eliminating mechanical noise and reducing power draw compared with a traditional hard drive.

Build quality and daily connectivity

The Latitude 7490 chassis is finished in black and carries the series’ business-oriented durability cues. A USB Type-C port and an HDMI output handle external displays and peripherals without adapters. An integrated webcam supports video calls out of the box. Grade B condition means the unit has been cosmetically refreshed but may show subtle signs of previous use, so buyers expecting a pristine showroom appearance should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I install a second M.2 NVMe drive in the Dell Latitude 7490 and which step do people miss?

The 7490 has a single M.2 2280 slot occupied by the 512 GB NVMe SSD; there is no second M.2 slot, so a second drive cannot be installed internally.

What maintenance or replacement will the 32 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 32 GB DDR4 is soldered to the board and cannot be upgraded or replaced; no user maintenance is required for the memory itself.

What limit appears first on the Intel UHD Graphics 620 during sustained workloads?

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 shares system memory and thermal headroom with the i5-8350U, so thermal throttling under heavy GPU load is the first limit encountered.
