Dell Latitude 7490 14.0 inch FHD Business Laptop

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-8350U processor running at 1.7 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB M.2 SATA SSD. The 1920 x 1080 non-touch display and Intel UHD Graphics 620 handle everyday visual tasks. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed.

Suits mobile professionals needing a compact

This configuration suits mobile professionals who need a compact managed device with a 14.0 inch screen, 8GB of memory and Windows 10 Pro for domain joining. Buyers who need more than 8GB of RAM or a dedicated graphics processor for heavy 3D work should look elsewhere. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 and non-touch display limit suitability for creative workflows requiring GPU acceleration or pen input.

256GB M.2 SATA SSD storage interface

The single specification that decides fit is the 256GB M.2 SATA SSD. This drive uses the SATA protocol rather than a faster PCIe interface, so sequential read and write speeds are capped at the SATA 6Gbps limit. Verify that your workload tolerates SATA-class throughput before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Will the USB Type-C port on the Latitude 7490 drive my older USB 3.0 docking station?

The USB Type-C port carries data and video signals; connect your existing USB 3.0 dock with a Type-C to Type-A cable or adapter and it will operate at USB 3.0 speeds.

How can I confirm the Intel Core i5-8350U is running at its 1.7 GHz base clock after I set up the laptop?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose CPU and verify the base speed reads 1.7 GHz while the system is idle.

Does the box include a charger for the 256 GB M.2 SATA SSD model or must I buy one separately?

The unit ships with an AC adapter (third-party new or OEM used) so no separate charger purchase is required.
