Dell Latitude 7490 14-inch touchscreen laptop

This 14.0-inch laptop combines a 1920 x 1080 touchscreen with an Intel Core i7 8th Gen 1.90 GHz processor, 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. It ships with Windows 10 Pro 64-bit and integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 using shared system memory. The chassis includes HDMI 1.4, DisplayPort over USB Type-C, three USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, Gigabit Ethernet and an SD 4.0 card reader.

Suited to mobile professionals needing pen

The anti-glare touchscreen and 1.4 kg weight support direct on-screen work in the field. Buyers who require discrete graphics for 3D rendering, video editing or gaming should look elsewhere. The two memory slots allow an upgrade to 32 GB DDR4, but the integrated graphics and fixed 512 GB storage remain limiting factors for heavy creative workloads.

Intel UHD Graphics 620 with shared memory

This integrated GPU relies on system RAM rather than dedicated video memory, which determines whether the laptop handles your visual workloads. It drives the 1920 x 1080 panel and external displays via HDMI 1.4 or USB Type-C DisplayPort, but it is not designed for GPU-accelerated compute, modern gaming or multi-monitor 4K setups.

Questions about this item

Will the 14.0 inch chassis fit in a 13 inch sleeve?

The laptop measures 13.030 inches wide and 8.700 inches deep so a sleeve sized for 13 inch devices will be too tight; choose a 14 inch or larger bag.

Which screw secures the bottom cover when adding a second DDR4 module?

Remove the nine Torx T5 screws around the perimeter then lift the cover from the front edge; the hidden screw under the centre rubber foot is the one most people miss.

How do I know when the 512 GB SSD needs replacement?

Run the built-in Dell SupportAssist storage test; if it reports reallocated sectors or the drive drops below 10 percent free space consistently, plan a swap.
