Latitude 7490 with i7-8650U

The Latitude 7490 is a 14.0 inch business laptop built around a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U processor running at 1.9 GHz with turbo up to 4.2 GHz. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe SSD provide responsive multitasking and fast boot times. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate deployment in managed environments.

Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI expand connectivity

A single Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port adds support for high-speed docks, external GPUs and dual 4K displays while charging the system. The full-size HDMI port offers a direct link to projectors or meeting-room screens without adapters. Three USB 3.0 ports, gigabit Ethernet, a microSD reader and Bluetooth 4.2 round out the peripheral options for mobile professionals.

512 GB NVMe and 16 GB DDR4 set the limits

The 512 GB drive handles operating system, applications and a moderate working set of project files before space becomes tight. Sixteen gigabytes of memory keeps dozens of browser tabs, Office suites and video-conference clients running smoothly. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 relies on shared system memory, so 3D workloads, heavy rendering or modern gaming will hit a hard ceiling.

Questions about this item

Will the 512 GB NVMe drive need replacement if it wears out?

The 512 GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD is a standard removable module, so it can be swapped for a larger or newer drive when capacity or health demands it.

What stops the i7-8650U from holding its 4.2 GHz turbo during long workloads?

The processor’s thermal design and shared cooling with the Intel UHD 620 graphics cause clocks to step down once the chassis reaches its heat limit.

How loud and hot does the 14 inch chassis get when the Quad-core CPU runs all day?

Under sustained load the fan spins up to an audible level and the keyboard deck warms noticeably, while the 45 W adapter supplies steady power.
