Business laptop with 14 inch FHD screen

The Dell Latitude 7490 is a 14 inch business laptop with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i7-8650U processor at 1.90 GHz with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed for professional use.

Memory and storage upgrades

Two memory slots support up to 32 GB DDR4 total, so adding capacity is straightforward. The 512 GB SSD is the only drive bay; there is no optical drive or secondary hard drive slot. Buyers who want more storage must replace the existing SSD or use external drives.

Integrated graphics and everyday workloads

Intel UHD Graphics 620 uses shared system memory and handles office applications, web browsing and video playback. It runs out of headroom for modern gaming, CAD rendering or heavy GPU compute tasks. The 16 GB RAM and quad-core CPU give comfortable multitasking headroom for typical business workloads.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the Intel Core i7-8650U is running at its 1.90 GHz base speed after first boot?

Open Task Manager, select the Performance tab, choose CPU and confirm the base clock shows 1.90 GHz while the system is idle.

Which accessories are included and which must be purchased separately for the Latitude 7490?

The box contains the laptop, a 65 W AC adapter and a UK power cord; no manual, external mouse or docking station are supplied.

Should I choose the 512 GB SSD version or upgrade to the 32 GB maximum memory configuration for heavier workloads?

The 512 GB SSD is fixed; memory can be expanded later to 32 GB using the two DDR4 slots if your applications need more than the installed 16 GB.
