Dell Latitude D620 Palmrest Assembly

This original Dell OEM palmrest assembly integrates a touchpad and fingerprint reader for Latitude D620 laptops. The part number RP105 fits any D620 model without requiring a matching part number. Buyers who need a palmrest without biometric capability should look elsewhere.

Includes Fingerprint Reader and Coin Cell Battery

The bundled fingerprint reader restores biometric login functionality on compatible systems. The included coin cell battery maintains CMOS settings when the main battery is removed. No additional drivers, cables or mounting hardware are supplied in the package.

Direct Replacement for Damaged Palmrest

Installation involves removing the keyboard and existing palmrest, then connecting the touchpad and fingerprint reader cables to the motherboard. The fragile ribbon cables and small connectors are the most common points of failure during reassembly. Buyers without laptop disassembly experience may prefer professional fitting.

Questions about this item

Will the coin cell battery on this RP105 assembly need replacing later?

The coin cell battery is included new with the palmrest assembly; it will need replacement when it no longer holds a charge for the fingerprint reader or system clock.

What is the first limit that appears when the fingerprint reader on this D620 part is used continuously?

The fingerprint sensor itself is the limiting factor; sustained scanning will slow once its internal processing queue fills.

Does the touchpad or fingerprint reader on this RP105 generate noticeable heat or noise during all-day use?

Neither the touchpad nor the fingerprint reader has moving parts or active cooling, so they run silently and add negligible heat to the palmrest area.
