Purpose and audience

The Dell Latitude E5420 is a 14.0 inch laptop built around a dual-core Intel Core i7 processor running at 2.20GHz with 16 GB of DDR3 memory. It targets professionals who need a traditional clamshell notebook with an optical drive and legacy ports for office applications and light multitasking on Windows 10 Home.

Compatibility checks

Verify that your workflow does not depend on a touchscreen or solid-state storage, because this unit has a non-touch HD+ display at 1366 x 768 resolution and a 2.5 inch 1000 GB SATA hard drive. Confirm that integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics meet your visual requirements and that the TPM 1.2 security chip satisfies any encryption policies.

Build integration

The chassis provides VGA and HDMI output for external monitors, a DVD-RW drive for optical media, and a built-in card reader for removable storage. Gigabit Ethernet and Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 wireless handle wired and wireless networking, while the HD webcam supports video calls without additional peripherals.
