Business laptop with integrated graphics and SATA

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14-inch notebook built for office workflows. It runs on a 5th Generation Intel Core i5-5300U processor with a base clock of 2.3 GHz and Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0. The system includes 8 GB of DDR3L memory and a 512 GB SATA solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Suited for standard productivity not heavy graphics

This configuration handles document editing, email, web browsing and video conferencing through the integrated webcam. The non-touch HD LED display offers a 1366 x 768 resolution. Buyers who need discrete graphics performance for 3D rendering or modern gaming should look at a different class of machine. The integrated graphics core and fixed 8 GB memory limit also rule out memory-intensive creative workloads.

Storage interface is 2.5-inch SATA

The 512 GB drive uses a 2.5-inch SATA connection, which defines the upgrade path for internal storage. Any replacement or additional drive must match this physical and electrical interface. The platform does not support newer storage protocols, so drive selection is limited to SATA-based SSDs or hard drives.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise does the Core i5-5300U produce when the laptop runs all day?

The 2.3 GHz Core i5-5300U with Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 scales its speed to the workload, so typical office tasks keep temperatures and fan noise at modest levels.

Which cables or adapters must I already own to connect an external monitor to the HDMI or VGA output?

The laptop provides both HDMI and VGA ports, so a standard HDMI cable or a VGA cable is all that is needed for an external display.

Will my existing DDR3L SODIMM modules work if I want to expand the 8 GB up to the 16 GB maximum?

Yes, the system uses DDR3L memory and supports up to 16 GB, so compatible DDR3L SODIMMs can be added to reach the maximum capacity.
