Core specifications

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0" FHD laptop with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor with a 2.30 GHz base and 2.90 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 16GB DDR3 memory and a new 1TB 2.5" SATA SSD. No operating system is installed.

Who it suits and who should look elsewhere

This laptop suits users who need a portable 14-inch device with a full-HD screen and 16GB of RAM for general productivity. Buyers who want more storage than 1TB, a touchscreen, or a discrete graphics card should look elsewhere. The 16GB memory ceiling also limits users who plan to run memory-intensive virtual machines.

Capacity and headroom

The 1TB SSD provides ample space for the operating system, applications and a large document library. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles desktop video playback and light photo editing comfortably. Heavier workloads such as 3D rendering, modern gaming or multi-camera video editing will exceed the graphics and memory headroom.

Questions about this item

What operating system must I supply for the Latitude E5450 to run?

The laptop ships with no operating system, so you will need to install Windows, Linux or another OS yourself before it can boot to a desktop.

Can I keep using my existing DDR3 memory modules with the 16 GB already installed?

The system has two DDR3 slots and the 16 GB fitted already reaches the 16 GB maximum, so there is no free slot for additional modules.

How can I confirm the 1 TB SSD is recognised after I install an OS?

Once the operating system is installed, open the disk management tool or file explorer; the drive should appear as a single 1 TB SATA volume.
