Built for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0-inch FHD laptop powered by a dual-core Intel Core i5-5300U processor running at 2.30 GHz with a 2.90 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500GB SATA SSD. No operating system is installed so the buyer provides their own licence.

Suits users who need a ready screen and storage

This unit fits buyers who want a 1920 x 1080 display and a fresh solid-state drive in a compact chassis. It is not for anyone who requires a pre-loaded Windows licence, a touchscreen interface, discrete graphics beyond Intel HD Graphics 5500, or memory beyond the 16 GB ceiling supported by the two DDR3 slots.

The 500GB SATA SSD decides fit

The new 2.5-inch 500GB SATA SSD is the single component that determines whether this laptop meets the storage speed and capacity requirement. If the workload demands a larger or faster drive interface, this configuration will not satisfy it.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2.5" SATA 500GB SSD into the Latitude E5450, and what step is often missed?

Remove the bottom cover, slide the drive into the caddy, connect the SATA connector, and secure the screw; the step often missed is reinstalling the caddy screw before replacing the cover.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8GB DDR3 memory need later?

The two slots support up to 16GB total; you can add a matching DDR3 module or replace both sticks to reach the maximum capacity.

What limit appears first on the Core i5-5300U during sustained loads?

The dual-core 2.30GHz processor with 2.90GHz turbo will hit thermal throttling before the Intel HD Graphics 5500 or the 500GB SSD become bottlenecks.
