Ready-to-use business laptop

The Dell Latitude E5450 ships with Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit already activated so it is ready to work straight from the box. A 2.90 GHz Intel i7 dual-core processor and 4 GB of DDR3 memory handle everyday office applications. The 14.0 inch non-touch screen keeps the chassis compact for mobile professionals.

Sustained workload behaviour

The integrated graphics share system memory so prolonged heavy tasks will reduce the RAM available for applications. Only 4 GB is installed from a maximum of 16 GB across two slots, so memory pressure appears quickly under load. The 500 GB SATA hard drive provides capacity but its mechanical latency limits sustained throughput compared with solid-state storage.

Practical interface limits

Wireless connectivity uses 802.11a/b/g which caps real-world throughput well below modern AC or AX standards. Two USB ports restrict simultaneous peripherals unless a hub is added. The SATA interface on the hard drive limits peak transfer rates to the bus maximum. No Bluetooth is present so wireless accessories need a separate adapter.

Questions about this item

How loud does the fan get when the Intel i7 2.90 GHz processor runs all day?

The laptop uses integrated graphics and a 500 GB SATA drive, so the cooling system only has to handle the CPU and memory; fan noise stays low during typical office workloads.

What do I need to add so the 4 GB DDR3 memory reaches the 16 GB maximum?

Two DDR3 SODIMM slots are available; install two 8 GB modules to reach the 16 GB limit.

Will my older 802.11a/b/g router work with the built-in wireless?

Yes, the laptop's 802.11a/b/g radio connects directly to that router without any extra adapter.
