Latitude E5450 14.0" FHD laptop

This Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0-inch FHD laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-5300U processor running at 2.30 GHz with a turbo frequency of 2.90 GHz. It includes 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 2TB SSD for storage. The system ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed and features integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500.

Sustained workload behaviour

The dual-core processor maintains a base speed of 2.30 GHz and can reach 2.90 GHz under load within its thermal limits. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles display output at 1920 x 1080 resolution without a discrete GPU. The 2.5-inch SATA SSD provides consistent read and write speeds for the operating system and applications during extended sessions.

Upgrade context and value

This unit replaces an older laptop with a mechanical hard drive or smaller solid-state drive, delivering a 2TB capacity on a new SATA SSD. Memory can be expanded to 16 GB using the two available slots if 8GB proves limiting. It is not suited for buyers who need a dedicated graphics processor, a touchscreen display, or a newer CPU architecture.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise does the Core i5-5300U generate when the Latitude E5450 runs all day?

The dual-core Core i5-5300U has a base speed of 2.30 GHz and a turbo of 2.90 GHz; under sustained load the 14.0" chassis relies on its internal fan to keep temperatures in check, so you will hear the fan spin up during long sessions.

What must I already own to start using this Latitude E5450 right away?

The laptop ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed, 8GB DDR3 memory and a 2TB SATA SSD, so only the included AC adapter is required to power it on and begin working.

Can I keep using my older SATA drives and DDR3 modules with the E5450?

Yes — the 2.5" SATA bay accepts existing SATA drives, and the two DDR3 slots support additional modules up to the 16 GB maximum.
