Product Identity

The Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0-inch HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor running at 2.30 GHz with a 2.90 GHz turbo frequency. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. The system ships without an operating system installed.

Target User

This unit suits buyers who need a compact 1366 x 768 display, dual-core performance and a fresh solid-state drive for a clean OS installation. It does not suit users who require a touchscreen, a pre-loaded Windows licence, or more than 16 GB of total memory capacity.

Deciding Specification

The single specification that decides fit is the 500GB 2.5-inch SATA SSD, which determines both the storage capacity and the drive interface compatible with this chassis.

Questions about this item

What operating system must I supply for the Latitude E5450 to boot?

The laptop ships with no operating system installed, so you must provide and install your own copy of Windows or another OS before it will start up.

Can I keep using my existing DDR3 memory modules with the two slots in this system?

Yes, the E5450 uses DDR3 memory and has two slots supporting up to 16 GB total, so compatible modules you already own will work.

How can I verify the new 500 GB SATA SSD is recognised after I install the OS?

After setup, open the BIOS or the OS disk-management tool and confirm a 500 GB drive appears with the correct capacity.
