Dell Latitude E5450 14" HD laptop

This Dell Latitude E5450 is a 14.0" HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-5600U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.60 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.20 GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB SATA SSD. Microsoft Windows 10 Home 64-bit is pre-installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

The system suits buyers who need a 14-inch business laptop with a Core i7 U-series processor, 8GB of RAM and a fresh 240GB solid-state drive for general office work. It does not suit buyers who need a touchscreen, a higher-resolution display than 1366 x 768, discrete graphics, more than 16GB of memory or an operating system newer than Windows 10 Home out of the box.

The specification that decides fit

The 240GB 2.5" SATA SSD is the single specification that decides whether this is the right part; it fixes both the storage capacity and the drive interface for any upgrade or replacement.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 240GB SSD into the 2.5" SATA bay, and what step do people miss?

Remove the bottom cover, slide the 2.5" SATA drive into the caddy, secure it with screws, then reconnect the data and power cables; the step most people miss is tightening the caddy screws before closing the chassis.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8GB DDR3 memory need later?

The system has two slots supporting up to 16 GB total, so you can add another DDR3 module or replace both for more capacity; no other memory maintenance is required.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the Intel Core i7-5600U?

The dual-core 2.60 GHz processor with 3.20 GHz turbo and Intel HD Graphics 5500 will hit thermal throttling before the 240GB SSD or 8GB RAM become bottlenecks.
