Dell Latitude E5470 with Core i7-6820HQ

The Dell Latitude E5470 is a 14.0 inch FHD laptop built around an Intel Core i7-6820HQ quad-core processor running at 2.70 GHz. It ships with 16GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. No operating system is installed.

Sustained workload behaviour

The processor can reach a turbo frequency of 3.60 GHz when thermal headroom allows. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 handles display output at 1920 x 1080 resolution. The system memory is capped at 16GB across two slots, so the installed capacity is already the maximum supported.

Compatibility checklist

Verify that your workflow can operate without a pre-installed operating system, as you must supply and install one yourself. The non-touch FHD panel and fixed 16GB memory limit mean the laptop suits general office tasks but not upgrades beyond the existing specification.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the Intel Core i7-6820HQ get during all-day use?

The quad-core i7-6820HQ runs at 2.70 GHz base and 3.60 GHz turbo inside the 14.0" chassis; typical office workloads keep fan noise moderate and surface temperatures warm but comfortable for lap use.

What must I already own to start working because the laptop ships with no operating system?

You need a Windows or Linux installation USB and a valid licence key; the 240GB NVMe drive is blank and the 16GB DDR3 memory is already at its 16 GB maximum.

Will my older USB-A peripherals and external 1080p monitor work with the Intel HD Graphics 530?

Yes — the Intel HD Graphics 530 drives 1920 x 1080 over the video outputs, and the laptop retains full-size USB-A ports for legacy mice, keyboards and drives.
