Ready-to-upgrade business laptop

The Dell Latitude E5470 is a 14.0" HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6820HQ quad-core processor running at 2.70 GHz with a 3.60 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 500GB 2.5" SATA SSD. The unit arrives without an operating system, so the buyer installs their preferred OS.

Storage and memory headroom

The new 500GB SSD replaces any mechanical drive, cutting boot and application load times compared with a hard-disc configuration. Two memory slots are fitted and the platform supports up to 16GB total, allowing a straightforward RAM upgrade later.

Check your software and peripheral needs

Verify that your licences and install media cover a clean OS installation on this hardware. Confirm that any essential peripherals or docking stations connect through the ports available on this chassis. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 530 drives the 1366 x 768 non-touch display.

Questions about this item

Will the 8 GB DDR3 memory need upgrading for heavier workloads later?

The system ships with 8 GB DDR3 across two slots and supports a maximum of 16 GB, so a future upgrade is possible if workloads demand more memory.

What limits the Intel Core i7-6820HQ during sustained heavy loads?

The quad-core processor runs at a base frequency of 2.70 GHz and can reach 3.60 GHz turbo, so thermal throttling under continuous heavy use will be the first practical limit.

How much fan noise and heat should I expect from the 14.0" HD chassis during all-day operation?

The compact 14.0" HD non-touch chassis vents the quad-core heat through a single fan; expect audible airflow and warm palm rests during continuous heavy use.
