15.6″ FHD Latitude E5570 laptop

The Dell Latitude E5570 is a 15.6″ business laptop with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.40 GHz and a turbo frequency of 3.00 GHz. The system includes 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. No operating system is installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This laptop suits users needing a portable 15.6″ Full HD device for office applications, web browsing and video conferencing via the integrated webcam. The Intel HD Graphics 520 supports dual-mirror display output. Buyers who want a touchscreen, a discrete GPU for rendering or gaming, or a machine with Windows pre-installed should look elsewhere.

The spec that decides fit

The single specification that decides whether this is the right part is the 8GB DDR3 memory soldered to a two-slot board supporting a maximum of 16 GB. If your workload requires more than 16 GB of RAM, this chassis cannot accommodate it.

Questions about this item

Does the 15.6 inch chassis use a 2.5 inch bay or an M.2 slot for the 240GB NVMe drive?

The 240GB NVMe drive occupies the M.2 slot; no 2.5 inch bay is used.

After seating the DDR3 modules in the two slots, what BIOS step activates the 8GB at the correct speed?

Enter BIOS, confirm the memory runs at the DDR3 native frequency, save and exit.

When the 240GB NVMe drive reaches its write endurance limit, can it be swapped for a larger M.2 NVMe unit?

Yes, the M.2 slot accepts another NVMe drive; clone or reinstall the OS onto the replacement.
