Dell Latitude E6420 overview

The Dell Latitude E6420 is a 14.1-inch laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-2620M dual-core processor with 3 MB L3 cache and 4 GB of memory. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 drives the 1366 x 768 non-touch display. It ships with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit and Microsoft Office 2007 pre-installed. A 320 GB SATA hard drive provides storage.

Check compatibility before ordering

Verify that your workflow accepts Windows 7 Professional, an operating system that no longer receives security updates. Confirm that 4 GB of memory meets application requirements, as the system supports a maximum of 8 GB. Ensure integrated graphics are sufficient, because no discrete GPU is present. Note the 802.11a/b/g wireless adapter lacks Bluetooth and modern Wi-Fi standards.

Build integration and trade-offs

Four USB ports and audio connectors handle peripherals and headsets without extra hubs. The DVD-RW drive reads and writes optical media, freeing a USB port from an external drive. Brushed aluminum chassis resists daily wear, while the original battery delivers roughly ninety minutes of runtime. Integrated graphics and SATA storage leave the PCIe slot unused for other expansion cards.
