Dell Latitude E6430s quad-core laptop

The Dell Latitude E6430s is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-3720QM quad-core processor running at 2.60 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a new 2.5 inch 512 GB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed with a Certificate of Authenticity. The anti-glare HD LED display shows 1366 x 768 resolution.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 handles everyday visual tasks without a discrete GPU, keeping heat output modest during typical office work. The slim chassis is 0.5 lbs lighter than the standard E6430, which helps airflow in regular use. A built-in DVD-RW drive, HDMI mini and VGA outputs add versatility without extra power draw. Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth provide connectivity for common workloads.

Sustained load behaviour

Under extended multi-core loads the quad-core processor maintains its 2.60 GHz base frequency while the integrated graphics share system memory. The 512 GB SSD delivers consistent read and write speeds for large file transfers or virtual machines. The Trusted Platform Module chip supports hardware encryption during long sessions. Battery life will vary with screen brightness and workload intensity.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 2.5" 512 GB SSD into this Latitude E6430s?

Remove the bottom access panel, slide the 2.5" 512 GB SSD into the drive bay until the connector seats, secure it with the mounting screw, then replace the panel.

What maintenance will the DVD-RW and cooling system need later?

Clean the fan vents and heatsink with compressed air every few months, and use a lens-cleaning disc if the DVD-RW reads inconsistently.

What limit appears first during sustained loads on the i7-3720QM with Intel HD Graphics 4000?

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 hits its thermal ceiling first, causing the quad-core i7-3720QM to throttle clock speeds under prolonged heavy work.
