Genuine Dell OEM Replacement Part

This is an authentic Dell right-side speaker cover with an integrated swipe-style fingerprint reader. It carries Dell part number 3J8V2 and is designed specifically for Latitude E6500 and Precision M4400 laptops. Buyers needing a left-side cover or a version without the biometric sensor will not find it here.

Passive Component With No Power Draw

The cover contains no active cooling, fans or electronics beyond the fingerprint sensor. It adds no audible noise, generates no heat and draws no power from the system. Installers who expect a fan header or thermal interface material will find neither.

Restores Biometric Login and Speaker Protection

The bundled swipe sensor re-enables fingerprint authentication on compatible chassis. The grill shields the right speaker driver from dust and accidental contact. No drivers, cables or mounting hardware are included in the package.

Questions about this item

How do I install the right speaker cover with fingerprint reader on a Latitude E6500?

Remove the old cover by releasing the retention clips along the front edge, disconnect the fingerprint ribbon cable, then snap the new cover into place and reconnect the ribbon before securing the palm-rest screws.

What maintenance will the swipe-style fingerprint reader need over time?

Clean the sensor window with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol when recognition becomes unreliable; the reader module itself is not serviceable and is replaced as part of the cover assembly.

What fails first on this cover during heavy daily use?

The fingerprint reader’s ribbon cable fatigues at the hinge fold, causing intermittent detection before the plastic grill or mounting tabs show wear.
