Dell Latitude E6520 15.6" laptop

This Dell Latitude E6520 is a 15.6 inch laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine. It runs on an Intel Core i5 2nd Gen processor at 2.20GHz with dual cores and 6 MB L3 cache. The system includes 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 1 TB SSD for the operating system and files. Integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics drive the HD+ LED backlit display.

Build integration and expandability

The chassis provides a 2.5 inch drive bay currently occupied by the 1 TB SSD. Two SO-DIMM slots support DDR3 memory up to a 16 GB maximum. External display connections include VGA and HDMI outputs for additional monitors. A DVD-RW drive handles optical media while a built-in card reader accepts memory cards. Gigabit Ethernet and Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 wireless provide network connectivity.

Capacity and everyday workloads

The 1 TB solid-state drive offers substantial space for applications and large document libraries. Eight gigabytes of RAM handles typical office multitasking and web browsing with multiple tabs. The dual-core processor manages standard productivity suites and video playback smoothly. Integrated graphics limit the system to basic visual tasks and prevent modern 3D gaming or intensive rendering workloads.

Questions about this item

Will the dual-core Intel Core i5 2.20GHz throttle under sustained heavy workloads?

The processor has a 6 MB L3 cache and two cores, so extended full-load tasks will hit its thermal and power ceiling faster than a quad-core chip.

How loud and hot does the E6520 get when it runs all day on mains power?

Integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics and a 15.6-inch LED-backlit display keep heat output moderate; the single fan spins up noticeably during long sessions but stays within typical office noise levels.

What RAM type must I already have if I want to upgrade beyond the installed 8 GB?

The system uses DDR3 memory and supports a maximum of 16 GB, so any additional modules must be DDR3 SO-DIMMs.
