14-inch FHD business laptop

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0-inch Full HD notebook built around an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor running at 2.30 GHz with a 2.90 GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a new 1 TB 2.5-inch SATA SSD. No operating system is included, so the buyer must supply their own Windows or Linux installation.

Sustained workload behaviour

Under continuous load the dual-core CPU maintains its 2.90 GHz turbo where thermal limits allow, while the integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles desktop compositing and light media tasks without a discrete GPU. The 16 GB memory ceiling is already reached, so multitasking headroom is fixed at this capacity. The SATA SSD delivers steady read and write throughput for typical office workloads.

16 GB DDR3 memory limit

The platform supports a maximum of 16 GB across two slots, and this unit already populates that limit. Buyers who need more memory for virtual machines, large datasets or future expansion cannot upgrade this chassis.

Questions about this item

Does the Intel Core i5-5300U with Intel HD Graphics 5500 run hot or loud under sustained daily use?

The dual-core 2.30 GHz processor reaches 2.90 GHz turbo and uses integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500, a combination designed for low thermal output in a thin 14.0" chassis.

What must I supply myself because the laptop ships with no operating system?

You need a licensed copy of Windows or another OS plus installation media; the 1TB 2.5" SATA SSD is blank and ready for your fresh install.

Can I keep using my existing DDR3 SO-DIMM modules if I open the two memory slots?

The system already holds the maximum 16 GB DDR3 across both slots, so there is no free capacity for additional modules.
