Business-ready 14-inch laptop

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0-inch non-touch laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor running at 2.3 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a 128 GB SSD under Windows 10 Pro. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 drives the 1366 x 768 HD display. Connectivity includes three USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini DisplayPort, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11n wireless, an SD card reader and a webcam.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The low-power Broadwell U-series chip targets a modest thermal envelope suited to thin ultraportable chassis. In typical office workloads the cooling system remains subdued and fan noise stays low. The solid-state drive eliminates mechanical drive heat and helps extend battery runtime during mobile use. Sustained multi-core tasks will raise temperatures gradually but the platform is designed for steady productivity rather than burst performance.

Display resolution decides fit

The 1366 x 768 panel provides a 16:9 workspace adequate for single-window document work and video calls. Users who need crisp text for coding, side-by-side windows or colour-critical editing will find the pixel density limiting. External monitors can be driven via HDMI or mini DisplayPort to expand real estate. Buyers who require a sharper built-in screen should consider models with higher native resolutions.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 128GB SSD in the Latitude E7450, and what step is often missed?

The 128GB SSD is already installed in the laptop. No installation is required; the step people miss is assuming they need to fit a drive themselves.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB DDR3 memory need later?

The 16GB DDR3 memory is already at the maximum supported capacity of 16GB, so it cannot be upgraded. Replacement is only needed if a module fails.

What limit appears first on the Intel Core i5-5300U during sustained heavy workloads?

The dual-core 2.3GHz processor with 3MB cache will hit its thermal and performance ceiling before other components under prolonged heavy loads.
