Latitude E7450 14" HD laptop for everyday work

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0-inch HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor running at 2.30 GHz with a 2.90 GHz turbo frequency. It includes 8GB of DDR3 memory and a new 240GB SATA SSD. The 1366 x 768 non-touch display and Intel HD Graphics 5500 handle standard office tasks. The unit ships with no operating system installed.

Not for users needing a pre-installed OS

This laptop suits buyers who want a compact 14.0-inch device for web browsing, document editing and video calls using the integrated webcam. It is not for users who need an operating system ready to use out of the box. It is not for buyers who require a display sharper than 1366 x 768 or a touchscreen interface. It is not for workloads that demand more than 16GB of total memory.

Max memory supported is 16GB DDR3 across two slots

The system provides two memory slots and supports a maximum of 16GB of DDR3 RAM. The installed 8GB configuration leaves one slot free for an upgrade to the supported limit. This ceiling determines whether the laptop can handle heavier multitasking or memory-intensive applications. Verify your workload fits within the 16GB maximum before purchase.

Questions about this item

How loud does the E7450 get and how hot does the Core i5-5300U run under sustained load?

The dual-core i5-5300U operates at a 2.30 GHz base clock and can boost to 2.90 GHz, so fan noise and chassis temperature will rise during long workloads but remain within the design limits of a 14.0" ultraportable.

What must I supply myself before the Latitude E7450 will boot to a desktop?

The unit ships with no operating system installed, so you need to provide a Windows licence or alternative OS on a USB installer and perform the initial setup yourself.

Can I keep using my older SATA peripherals with the 2.5" drive bay in this E7450?

The 240 GB SSD uses a standard 2.5" SATA interface, so any legacy 2.5" SATA drive or caddy you already own will connect directly without adapters.
