Latitude E7450 for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0 inch laptop built around an Intel Core i5-5300U dual-core processor running at 2.3 GHz. It ships with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a 1 TB SSD, offering responsive performance for office applications and web browsing. Windows 10 Home is pre-installed and activates automatically on first boot. This configuration suits professionals who need a reliable daily driver for standard productivity tasks.

Chassis, ports and daily handling

The black non-touch chassis includes an HDMI output for external displays and an integrated webcam for video calls. Supplier notes confirm every port and connector has been tested for proper operation after a full hardware refresh. Two memory slots are present, though the 16 GB installed already reaches the maximum supported capacity. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 drives the internal panel and external monitors through the available video output without discrete GPU overhead.

Practical limits of the integrated platform

The Intel HD Graphics 5500 handles desktop work and video playback but is not suited for modern 3D workloads or GPU-accelerated rendering. Memory is capped at 16 GB across two slots, preventing future expansion beyond the factory configuration. The dual-core Broadwell architecture provides adequate single-thread speed for legacy business software, yet multi-threaded compile times or heavy virtualisation will encounter ceiling effects. Buyers needing discrete graphics, higher core counts or memory upgrades beyond 16 GB should consider other platforms.

Questions about this item

What video output standard does the 14.0" laptop provide and what resolution ceiling does it impose?

The HDMI port carries the Intel HD Graphics 5500 signal, so the external display is limited to the maximum resolution that integrated GPU supports.

Which physical drive bays and memory slots are available inside the chassis for upgrades?

The unit includes two DDR3 SO-DIMM slots, both occupied to reach 16 GB, and a single 2.5" bay currently holding the 1 TB SSD.

How is the Windows 10 licence activated on first boot and what common step delays it?

A digital product key is pre-installed; accepting the licence agreement with a mouse click triggers automatic activation, but skipping that screen leaves the OS unactivated.
