Business travel laptop

The Dell Latitude E7450 is a 14.0 inch laptop built for professionals who move between offices and client sites. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i7-5600U dual-core processor at 2.6 GHz with 16GB of DDR3 memory and a 512GB SSD. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500 drives the 1920 x 1080 non-touch display.

Sustained workload behaviour

The 5th generation Core i7 dual-core chip and 16GB memory ceiling handle office suites, video calls and browser-heavy workflows without throttling in typical business use. Integrated graphics share system memory, so extended 3D or heavy rendering tasks will run slower than on discrete GPU machines. The SSD keeps boot and application loading consistent over long sessions.

Build and daily connectivity

Grade B LCD units show body dents, keyboard wear or fine screen scratches while keeping all functions intact. A mini DisplayPort and HDMI port let you plug into projectors or external monitors without adapters. Three USB 3.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, an SD card reader and a webcam cover the usual meeting-room and desk-docking needs.

Questions about this item

How much heat and fan noise does the Core i7-5600U produce during long work sessions?

The dual-core i7-5600U runs at 2.6 GHz with a 4 MB L2 cache and integrated Intel HD Graphics 5500, keeping thermal output modest for a 14.0" ultrabook chassis.

Which peripherals and cables must I already own to use the video outputs and wired network?

You need an HDMI cable for the full-size HDMI port, a mini-DisplayPort cable or adapter for the mini-DisplayPort, and an RJ-45 patch lead for the 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet jack.

Will my existing DDR3 SO-DIMM modules work if I want to reconfigure the 16 GB already installed?

The system uses DDR3 memory and supports a maximum of 16 GB, so the installed 16 GB already fills the limit; any extra DDR3 sticks would not increase capacity.
