Targeted business laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0" HD+ laptop built for professionals who need a reliable Windows 10 Pro machine. It runs on an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor with a turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz and includes 8GB DDR4 memory. A new 240GB SSD provides the primary storage.

Suits mobile workers, not media creators

This configuration suits office tasks, web apps and light multitasking on the 1600 x 900 non-touch display. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles everyday visuals but cannot drive modern games or intensive 3D rendering. Buyers who need a dedicated GPU, more than 16 GB of RAM or a higher-resolution screen should look elsewhere.

Storage interface is 2.5" SATA

The 240GB drive uses a 2.5" SATA connection, so upgrade paths are limited to similar SATA SSDs. The two memory slots support a maximum of 16 GB DDR4. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed and the unit ships new with a 365-day parts and labour warranty.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8 GB DDR4 or upgrade to the 16 GB maximum?

The laptop ships with 8 GB DDR4 in one of two slots; the board supports up to 16 GB, so adding a matching module later doubles capacity for heavier multitasking.

What does the 2.60 GHz base and 3.40 GHz turbo actually deliver in daily work?

The dual-core i7-6600U runs at 2.60 GHz normally and boosts to 3.40 GHz for short bursts, giving snappy response in office apps and web browsing while staying cool in the 14.0" chassis.

How fast is the 240 GB 2.5" SATA SSD compared with other drives?

The 240 GB 2.5" SATA SSD provides solid-state boot and load times far quicker than a mechanical drive, limited by the SATA interface's maximum throughput.
