14″ HD+ Business Laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0-inch HD+ laptop built for mobile professionals who need a compact Windows 10 machine with a dual-core Intel Core i7-6650U processor and 8GB of DDR4 memory. It ships with a fresh 240GB 2.5″ SATA SSD and a 1600 x 900 non-touch display.

Suits Office Work Not Heavy Graphics

This configuration suits office productivity, web browsing and video conferencing thanks to its integrated Intel Iris Graphics 540 and lightweight chassis. Buyers who need discrete graphics for 3D rendering, modern gaming or GPU-accelerated workloads should look elsewhere.

8GB RAM with 16GB Ceiling

The system includes 8GB of DDR4 memory across two slots and supports a maximum of 16GB, so the upgrade headroom is limited to one additional module. Users whose workflows regularly exceed 8GB should plan for a memory upgrade at purchase.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 8 GB DDR4 configuration or the 16 GB maximum for this Latitude E7470?

The unit ships with 8 GB of DDR4 in two slots; the board supports up to 16 GB, so you can add another module later if your workload needs more memory.

What does the 3.40 GHz turbo frequency mean when I am actually working on the i7-6650U?

The processor runs at 2.20 GHz base and can boost a single core to 3.40 GHz for short bursts, giving snappier response in everyday tasks while staying within thermal limits.

How fast is the 240 GB 2.5" SATA SSD in this laptop?

The drive connects over SATA, so its throughput is limited to the SATA interface ceiling; in practice it delivers far quicker boot and application launches than a mechanical hard drive.
