Business laptop for office tasks

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0" HD business laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6650U dual-core processor running at 2.20 GHz with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. It includes 8GB of DDR4 memory and a new 500GB SSD in a 2.5" SATA form factor. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed. This configuration suits professionals who need a portable Windows machine for everyday productivity.

Not for heavy multitasking or high-res work

Buyers who need more than 16 GB of total memory or a display sharper than 1366 x 768 should look elsewhere. The integrated Intel Iris Graphics 540 handles basic video output but is not built for demanding 3D or creative workloads. Systems requiring a touchscreen or a storage interface other than SATA are not compatible with this unit.

500GB SATA SSD decides fit

The single specification that determines suitability is the new 500GB SSD using a 2.5" SATA connection. If that capacity and interface match the replacement or upgrade requirement, the laptop fits; if a different drive format or larger volume is needed, it does not.

Questions about this item

Does the 2.5" SATA interface cap the 500GB SSD at SATA speeds?

Yes, the 2.5" SATA connection limits the 500GB SSD to SATA transfer rates.

Will the 14.0" chassis accept a second DDR4 module to reach the 16 GB maximum?

The laptop has two DDR4 slots with one occupied, so a second module can be added to reach 16 GB.

What is the correct order for a clean Windows 10 Pro 64-bit install on the 500GB SSD?

Boot from installation media, select the 500GB SSD as the target, and let Windows create its partitions automatically.
