Latitude E7470 14" HD+ Laptop

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch business laptop with a 1600 x 900 HD+ non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i7-6600U dual-core processor with a 3.40 GHz turbo frequency and Intel HD Graphics 520. The system includes 8GB DDR4 memory and a new 240GB 2.5 inch SATA SSD with Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed.

Upgrade from older dual-core ultrabooks

This model replaces slower dual-core ultrabooks that lack a 6th generation Core i7 and fast SATA solid-state storage. The jump is worth it when you need a 3.40 GHz turbo boost for responsive office multitasking and a fresh 240GB SSD for quick boot times. It is not for buyers who want more storage capacity or a dedicated graphics processor for heavy creative workloads.

Simple memory and storage access

The chassis provides two memory slots supporting up to 16 GB total DDR4, allowing straightforward RAM upgrades. The 2.5 inch SATA SSD bay is easily reachable for future drive swaps. What usually goes wrong is forgetting to reinstall the 64-bit Windows 10 Home drivers after a clean install, which can leave the Intel HD Graphics 520 or wireless hardware unrecognised.

Questions about this item

What size and interface does the internal drive bay use for the 240GB SSD?

The drive bay accepts a 2.5-inch SATA SSD, which is the form factor and interface the supplied 240GB drive uses.

How is the operating system installed and what activation step is often missed?

Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed; the step users sometimes skip is connecting to the internet so the digital licence can activate automatically.

What is the maximum memory the laptop can support and how many slots are available?

The system supports up to 16GB of DDR4 across two memory slots, so you can add one 8GB module or replace both for the full 16GB.
