Product identity and audience

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch business laptop powered by a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor. It ships with 8GB of memory, a 256GB solid-state drive and Windows 10 Pro pre-installed. The bundle adds a 31 by 12 deskmat and a 16GB flash drive.

Who this suits and who it does not

This unit fits users who need a compact machine for office applications, web browsing and video calls using the integrated HD webcam. The 1366 x 768 non-touch display and shared Intel HD Graphics 520 memory limit its appeal for creative work or modern gaming. Buyers who want more storage, a higher-resolution panel or discrete graphics should look elsewhere.

Sustained-load behaviour

The Skylake dual-core CPU and integrated graphics share thermal headroom inside the slim chassis. Under continuous multi-tasking the processor will throttle to maintain safe temperatures, so extended compile jobs or heavy spreadsheet recalculations run slower than the initial burst. The 256GB SSD keeps file access consistent while the 8GB memory ceiling may trigger paging with many browser tabs open.

Questions about this item

What existing monitor or projector connections do I need to use the HDMI and mini DisplayPort outputs on this E7470?

The laptop provides one HDMI output and one mini DisplayPort so you can connect to any display that accepts those inputs; no adapter is required if your screen already has a matching port.

Will the USB 3.0 ports on this E7470 work with my older USB 2.0 flash drives and peripherals?

Yes, the two USB 3.0 ports and the USB 3.0 PowerShare port are backward compatible with USB 2.0 devices, so existing drives and accessories will function normally.

How can I confirm the Intel HD Graphics 520 is active after setting up Windows 10 Pro?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters and verify that Intel HD Graphics 520 is listed without a warning icon; the driver version shown there confirms the GPU is operating correctly.
