Built for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch laptop with a 1600 x 900 HD+ non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i7-6650U dual-core processor with a 2.20 GHz base and 3.40 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 16GB DDR4 memory and a new 1TB SSD 2.5 inch SATA drive. Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Upgrade from slower storage and limited memory

Replacing a traditional hard drive with the new 1TB SATA SSD cuts boot and application load times dramatically. The 16GB DDR4 configuration hits the platform maximum, so multitasking across browser tabs and office suites stays smooth without paging. This jump matters most for users moving from 8GB or mechanical drives who need snappy daily responsiveness.

Steady output for typical workloads

Intel Iris Graphics 540 handles desktop composition and video playback without a discrete GPU. Under sustained office loads the dual-core CPU maintains clocks within its thermal envelope, avoiding the sharp throttling seen in thinner ultraportables. The chassis dissipates heat adequately for document work, email and web sessions, though extended compile or render tasks will hit the power limit.

Questions about this item

What physical drive size and interface does the 1 TB storage use?

The 1 TB drive is a 2.5-inch SATA SSD, so any replacement must match that form factor and connector.

How is the operating system installed and what step is often missed?

Windows 10 Home 64-bit comes pre-installed; the step users skip is running the initial setup screens and checking for updates before installing apps.

What component is limited to 16 GB and cannot be expanded later?

The system has two DDR4 slots but the maximum supported memory is 16 GB, so no further RAM upgrade is possible.
