Dell Latitude E7470 14 inch HD laptop for mobile

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0 inch HD laptop powered by an Intel Core i7-6650U processor running at 2.20 GHz with a turbo frequency of 3.40 GHz. It includes 8GB of DDR4 memory and a new 1TB SSD for storage. The system ships with Windows 10 Home 64-bit installed.

Sustained workload behaviour on dual core U series

Under sustained load the dual-core U-series processor operates within its thermal envelope, balancing the base 2.20 GHz speed and 3.40 GHz turbo against heat limits. The Intel Iris Graphics 540 shares system memory, so extended graphics tasks reduce bandwidth available to the CPU. Memory can be expanded to 16 GB across two slots if workloads demand more capacity.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

The slim 14.0 inch chassis relies on internal fan cooling to manage heat from the processor and integrated graphics during typical office tasks. Fan speed rises during video playback or heavy multitasking but remains moderate for document work. The 2.5 inch SATA SSD draws less power than a mechanical drive, helping battery life during mobile use.

Questions about this item

How hot or loud does the Core i7-6650U get during long work sessions?

The dual-core processor runs at a base 2.20 GHz and can boost to 3.40 GHz, with Intel Iris Graphics 540 integrated, so thermal output stays modest for typical office loads.

Which parts must I already have to use this laptop?

The system ships with 8 GB DDR4 memory installed in one of two slots, a 1 TB 2.5" SATA SSD, Windows 10 Home 64-bit, a 1366 x 768 non-touch display, webcam and Bluetooth, so no extra components are required to start working.

Can I keep using my existing 2.5" SATA drives with this machine?

Yes, the storage bay accepts standard 2.5" SATA drives, so any compatible drive you already own can be swapped in or added as a second drive.
