Rugged 14-inch Windows 10 laptop

The Dell Latitude Rugged 5420 is a 14.0-inch clamshell laptop built for field work. It ships with Windows 10 Pro, an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor, 8 GB of memory and a 256 GB SSD. The non-touch FHD panel resolves at 1920 x 1080.

For mobile teams needing drop resistance

This unit suits technicians, first responders and logistics staff who need a MIL-STD tested chassis that survives vibration, dust and temperature extremes. Buyers who want a lighter ultraportable or a discrete GPU for rendering should look elsewhere.

Quad-core 1.7 GHz base with 3.6 GHz turbo

The i5-8350U runs at 1.7 GHz base frequency and reaches 3.6 GHz on turbo boost across its four cores. That clock profile decides whether the CPU meets your application’s sustained-performance threshold.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the Intel Core i5-8350U reaches its 3.6 GHz turbo frequency after setup?

Open Task Manager in Windows 10 Pro, select the Performance tab and watch the CPU clock speed while running a demanding task; the value should climb to 3.6 GHz when thermal headroom allows.

What ports and accessories are included in the box versus sold separately?

The laptop ships with the rugged chassis, integrated 14.0" FHD non-touch display, 256 GB SSD, 8 GB RAM, Windows 10 Pro, built-in HDMI, USB 3.0 Type-A and Type-C, RJ-45 Ethernet, SD and SIM slots, native serial port and lock slot; the stylus, handle, Fischer USB and the optional second serial or VGA port are separate purchases.

Which configuration should I choose if I need more storage or memory for field work?

This specific unit is the 256 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM model; if you require larger capacity or additional memory you would need to select a different SKU or upgrade the removable PCIe storage bay yourself.
