Rugged 14-inch touch laptop

The Dell Latitude Rugged 5420 is a 14.0-inch fully-rugged notebook built for field work. It runs Windows 11 Pro on a quad-core Intel Core i7-8650U reaching 4.20 GHz turbo with 32GB memory and a 512GB SSD. A dedicated AMD Radeon RX 540 GPU drives the FHD touch display.

Suits field teams needing MIL-STD durability

This unit serves first responders, utility crews and military users who require a sealed chassis, glove-capable touchscreen and optional FirstNet-ready LTE. Buyers who need thinner ultraportables, higher GPU compute for rendering or larger displays should look at other product lines.

Removable PCIe storage bay for rapid data swaps

A user-accessible PCIe storage bay lets technicians pull the drive in seconds for evidence handling or quick redeployment. This single hardware feature decides whether the 5420 fits a workflow that demands physical drive removal without tools.

Questions about this item

What are the exact height, width and depth measurements of the Latitude Rugged 5420 chassis?

The chassis measures 1.29 inches tall, 13.66 inches wide and 9.63 inches deep.

Which screw or latch secures the removable PCIe storage bay so it stays seated during vibration?

A single captive screw on the bottom panel locks the PCIe storage bay in place; tightening it fully prevents the drive from unseating under shock.

How often should the keyboard and touchpad seals be inspected and replaced to maintain the IP-rated ingress protection?

Inspect the seals every 12 months and replace them if they show compression set, cracking or contamination that would compromise the seal.
