Rugged 14 build for harsh environments

The DELL Latitude Rugged 5424 is a 14.0-inch laptop engineered with specialised materials and rigorous component qualification for harsh environments. Its toughened chassis passes military-grade test-to-failure methodology so users can focus on field work without worrying about hardware endurance. The non-touch FHD display reaches brightness levels suitable for direct sunlight viewing.

Suits mobile professionals needing durability

This machine suits field technicians, emergency responders and outdoor professionals who require a device that survives drops, vibration and extreme temperatures while running Windows 11 Pro on an Intel Core i7-8650U processor. Buyers who need a lightweight ultrabook for office commuting or a high-refresh gaming panel should look elsewhere because the ruggedised construction prioritises protection over minimal weight or advanced graphics.

16GB DDR4 and 256GB SSD handle core workloads

The 16GB DDR4 memory and 256GB SSD provide enough capacity for business applications, document management and connectivity tasks including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optional LTE. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles standard display output over HDMI and DisplayPort but runs out of headroom for 3D rendering, video editing or modern gaming workloads that demand discrete graphics memory.

Questions about this item

Does the Latitude Rugged 5424 require a specific type of memory module for upgrades?

The laptop uses DDR4 memory running at 16 GB; any additional modules must match that generation and speed to be compatible.

Can I connect a legacy serial device to the USB 3.0 or USB Type-C ports on this unit?

The chassis includes a dedicated serial port alongside USB 3.0, USB Type-C, HDMI, DisplayPort and RJ-45, so older serial equipment plugs in directly without an adapter.

How can I verify the Intel UHD Graphics 620 is active after installing Windows 11 Pro?

Open Device Manager, expand Display adapters, and confirm Intel UHD Graphics 620 appears as the listed graphics device.
