Rugged Tablet for Field Work

The Dell Latitude Rugged Extreme 7220 is an 11.6 inch tablet built for harsh environments. It runs Windows 10 Pro on an Intel Core i5-8365U quad-core processor with a 4.10 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. A 1920 x 1080 FHD touchscreen and integrated graphics complete the core specification.

Upgrade From Consumer Devices

This unit replaces standard laptops or tablets that cannot survive drops, vibration, or extreme temperatures. The jump is worth it when hardware must operate reliably in vehicle-mounted or outdoor deployments. FirstNet Ready connectivity provides priority LTE access for public safety users. Standard consumer gear lacks the necessary durability and certified network access.

Limits of Integrated Graphics and Ports

The integrated graphics chip handles general productivity and video streaming but is not suited for intensive 3D rendering or compute workloads. Connectivity includes USB 3.1 Type-A, USB 3.0 Type-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode, a micro SD slot, and a serial RS-232 port. The 802.11ac wireless LAN supports typical field data rates but does not reach the throughput of newer Wi-Fi standards.
