  • Light 5.1 oz weight eases handling during install

Dell Lightpulse 8Gb Fibre Channel HBA

This Dell Lightpulse host bus adapter provides a single 8Gb Fibre Channel connection over a PCI Express slot. It ships with a standard-height bracket and contains only the card itself. The adapter is designed for server environments that need to connect to a Fibre Channel storage network or switch.

Single-port 8Gb connectivity for standard-height

The card suits administrators adding a single Fibre Channel link to a rack or tower server that has a full-height PCIe slot available. It is not for systems that require a low-profile bracket, dual-port redundancy, or a different interface protocol. Buyers needing multiple ports or a smaller form factor should consider other options.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 8 Gb single-channel Fibre Channel HBA draw under sustained load?

The adapter is a standard-bracket PCIe card weighing 5.1 g with dimensions 6.6 × 2.7 × 1 cm; Dell does not publish a sustained-load power figure for this model.

Does the card need active cooling or produce noticeable fan noise when running continuously?

The Lightpulse HBA is a passive card with no onboard fan; it relies on server chassis airflow, so it adds no audible noise of its own.
