Sliding rail kit enables rack installation and service access for PowerEdge R610 servers
The Dell N915J sliding rail kit is designed for the PowerEdge R610 rack server. It enables straightforward installation, removal and service access in a compatible rack. System administrators maintaining R610 hardware will find it a direct replacement for missing or damaged rails. Builders deploying different server models or non-Dell racks cannot use this kit.
As a passive mechanical assembly the rail kit generates no heat, produces no audible noise and draws no electrical power. It simply supports the server chassis on sliding rails so the unit can be extended for maintenance. Thermal and acoustic performance of the rack depends entirely on the installed server and its cooling configuration.
The package contains the sliding rail assembly identified by part numbers N915J, R137J, K839C and N705C. These references help confirm compatibility before ordering. No software, cables, mounting screws or additional accessories are supplied with the kit.

Slide the inner rails onto the server sides, mount the outer rails into the rack’s square holes, then engage the release levers to lock the server in place; the step often missed is confirming the rack depth matches the rail travel before tightening all screws.
Inspect the ball-bearing slides and release levers periodically; if the rails bind or the locking tabs wear, replace the affected slide section or the complete kit to keep the R610 secure.
The ball-bearing slide mechanism and plastic release levers are the first components to show wear under frequent cycling, potentially causing misalignment or difficulty locking the server in position.
