Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Latitude 5420 combines an Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe drive. Its 14.0 inch FHD IPS panel delivers 1920 x 1080 resolution without touch input. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed for managed environments.

Twin Thunderbolt 4 ports plus HDMI 2.0

Two Thunderbolt 4 connections support external displays and high-speed peripherals while two USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports handle legacy devices. An RJ-45 jack provides wired 10/100/1000 Mbps networking and Wi-Fi 6 with Bluetooth 5.1 covers wireless needs. A microSD reader adds removable storage without dongles.

512 GB NVMe and 16 GB shared memory

The solid-state drive offers fast boot and application load times for typical business workloads. Integrated Iris Xe graphics uses system memory, so heavy 3D or video editing will hit the 16 GB ceiling. Buyers who want more storage or discrete graphics should consider other configurations.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 GB DDR4 limit how many virtual machines I can run at once?

The 16 GB DDR4 is soldered and not upgradeable, so the number of concurrent VMs is capped by that fixed memory pool.

How loud or hot does the Latitude 5420 get during an all-day compile job?

Thin-and-light chassis with shared-system-memory Iris Xe graphics means sustained loads push the single fan harder, raising surface temps and audible airflow.

Do I need a Thunderbolt 4 dock to drive two external 1080p monitors?

Yes — the two Thunderbolt 4 ports are the only video outputs that support multiple displays; the single HDMI 2.0 port drives only one.
