ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Gen 14" FHD

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 6th Gen is a 14.0" business laptop with a 1920 x 1080 non-touch display. It runs on an Intel Core i5-8350U quad-core processor at 1.70 GHz with a 3.60 GHz turbo frequency. The system includes 16GB DDR3 memory and a new 240GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. No operating system is installed.

Suits mobile professionals needing integrated

This laptop suits users who need a lightweight 14" chassis with 16GB RAM and fast NVMe storage for office applications. It is not for buyers who want a dedicated graphics card, a touchscreen, upgradeable memory slots, or a pre-installed operating system. The Intel UHD Graphics 620 handles only basic visual tasks.

Soldered 16GB DDR3 memory limit

The memory is soldered with zero total slots and a maximum supported capacity of 16 GB, so the configuration cannot be expanded beyond the factory amount. Buyers requiring more than 16GB of RAM must choose a different platform.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the Core i5-8350U produce during long sessions?

The quad-core i5-8350U runs at a 1.70 GHz base with a 3.60 GHz turbo, so sustained loads will raise fan speed and surface temperature, but the 14.0" chassis is designed for office workloads rather than continuous heavy compute.

What must I supply to run this laptop out of the box?

You need to provide your own operating system licence and installation media, because the unit ships with no OS installed.

Can I keep using my existing DDR3 memory modules with the 16 GB already installed?

The 16 GB DDR3 is soldered and the board has no memory slots, so the fitted capacity is the maximum and cannot be expanded or replaced with older modules.
