Latitude E7470 business notebook

The Dell Latitude E7470 is a 14.0-inch business notebook powered by an Intel Core i5-6300U dual-core processor running at 2.40 GHz. It comes with 16 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD, reaching the platform's maximum supported memory. Windows 10 is pre-installed for immediate deployment in office environments.

Thermals noise and power in daily use

Integrated graphics and the low-power U-series processor keep heat output modest during typical office tasks such as document editing and web browsing. The fan remains quiet under light loads, and the included AC adapter supplies sufficient power for normal operation without a discrete GPU drawing extra current.

Behaviour under sustained load

Under continuous multi-threaded workloads the dual-core CPU will throttle to maintain thermal limits, so extended compiles or large dataset processing run slower than on higher-core-count machines. Memory is capped at 16 GB with two slots already populated, limiting headroom for memory-intensive applications. The 1366 x 768 Wide XGA panel offers limited workspace for prolonged multi-window sessions.

Questions about this item

How do I install the AC adapter and battery, and what step is often missed?

Connect the supplied AC adapter to the laptop's power port and a mains outlet; insert the lithium-polymer battery into its bay until it clicks. The step often missed is pressing the battery release latch fully home so the pack locks in place.

What maintenance or replacement will the 512 SSD and 16 GB memory need later?

The 512 SSD has no moving parts and requires no routine service; the 16 GB memory is already at the 16 GB maximum supported, so no further upgrades are possible. Battery capacity will fade over time and the lithium-polymer pack will eventually need replacement.

What limit appears first when the Core i5-6300U runs sustained workloads?

The dual-core 2.40 GHz Core i5-6300U relies on integrated graphics and passive cooling, so thermal throttling under prolonged heavy CPU or GPU load is the first limit you will encounter.
