Mobile workstation for engineers and designers

The Lenovo ThinkPad P15s Gen 2 is a 15.6-inch mobile workstation built for engineers, designers and power users who need professional graphics on the move. It runs Windows 11 Pro on an Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor with 24GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB NVMe SSD. The NVIDIA T500 GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 memory drives the 1920 x 1080 FHD display.

Quadro T500 4GB GDDR6 for certified apps

The single specification that decides fit is the NVIDIA T500 professional GPU with 4GB of GDDR6 memory. This card targets ISV-certified stability for CAD, 3D modelling and rendering workflows that consumer GeForce graphics do not guarantee. Buyers who need higher VRAM for large assemblies or GPU compute workloads should look elsewhere.

Standard screw access.

The chassis uses standard Phillips screws for bottom-cover removal, giving access to the single M.2 slot and two SODIMM slots. The two Thunderbolt 4 ports support power delivery and external displays, but some third-party docks negotiate only USB-C speeds; test your dock before relying on it for dual 4K output.

Questions about this item

How does the 24 GB of DDR4 memory affect real-world multitasking?

The 24 GB capacity lets you keep large CAD assemblies, multiple browser tabs and development containers open simultaneously without swapping to the NVMe SSD.

What does the Thunderbolt 4 interface actually cap in daily use?

Each of the two USB-C ports carries Thunderbolt 4 at up to 40 Gb/s, so a single cable can drive two 4K displays, provide laptop charging and connect high-speed NVMe storage all at once.

What physical space does the 256 GB NVMe drive occupy inside the chassis?

The drive uses a standard M.2 2280 slot, so any future NVMe upgrade must match that 80 mm length and keying.
