Business laptop for mobile professionals

The Dell Latitude 7490 combines a 14.0-inch FHD display with an Intel Core i5-8250U quad-core processor, 16GB memory and a 512 GB M.2 SSD. Windows 11 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed. It suits office workers who need reliable performance for documents, email and video calls while travelling.

Simple setup with standard ports

Power on and follow the Windows 11 out-of-box experience; no proprietary tools are required. Three USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, HDMI 1.4 and an RJ-45 jack cover most peripherals. The only common issue is the single combined headphone and microphone jack, which may need a splitter for separate headsets.

Limits of the 14.0-inch FHD panel

The 1920 x 1080 screen cannot display higher resolutions, and HDMI 1.4 restricts external monitors to 4K at 30 Hz or 1080p at 60 Hz. The integrated graphics share system memory, so heavy 3D or multi-monitor workloads will hit a ceiling. Buyers who need more storage or dedicated graphics should look elsewhere.
