Dell NT478 8X Slimline SATA DVD-ROM

The Dell NT478 is an 8X Slimline SATA internal DVD-ROM drive designed for OptiPlex small form factor systems. It reads standard DVD and CD media for software installation or data access. The slim profile fits the constrained drive bays found in compact business desktops.

SATA interface and read-only operation

The drive connects through a standard SATA interface for simple integration with compatible motherboards. It is a read-only device, so it cannot write or rewrite discs. Buyers who need to burn DVDs or CDs should select a DVD-RW or Blu-ray writer instead.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the NT478 model for my OptiPlex SFF?

The NT478 is built for OptiPlex small-form-factor systems and fits the slimline bay used in those chassis.

What does the 8X speed mean when the drive is installed?

It reads DVD media at up to 8X maximum rate over the SATA interface, so data loads at that ceiling when the disc and system allow.
