Micro business desktop with eight-core i7

The Dell OptiPlex 5070 Micro is a compact desktop computer built around an Intel Core i7 9700T processor running at 2.0 GHz with eight cores and 12 MB of L3 cache. It comes with 16 GB of DDR4 memory and a 1 TB NVMe PCIe M.2 solid-state drive. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 drives two DisplayPort outputs and there is no HDMI, VGA or DVI port.

Suits offices needing a small footprint

This system fits buyers who want a miniature PC that mounts behind a monitor and connects to modern displays via DisplayPort or USB-C. It is not for users who must plug into older VGA or DVI screens without an adapter, nor for workloads that require a discrete graphics card or internal expansion slots.

Two DisplayPort outputs

Video connectivity is limited to two DisplayPort connectors plus a single USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port that can carry a display signal. There are no HDMI, VGA or DVI ports, so any monitor without DisplayPort or USB-C alternate-mode input will need an active adapter or special cable.

Questions about this item

How is the 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD installed, and what step is often missed?

The M.2 drive slots into the keyed connector on the motherboard and is secured with a single screw; the step often missed is ensuring the screw is tightened so the drive makes firm contact.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16GB DDR4 memory need later?

The DDR4 SO-DIMM modules can be upgraded to higher capacity sticks if workloads grow, and the CMOS battery on the board will eventually need replacement to keep BIOS settings.

What limit appears first when the i7 9700T runs sustained loads in the Micro chassis?

The compact air-cooling path in the 5070 Micro causes the CPU to reach its thermal throttle point before the 12 MB L3 cache or 8 cores become the bottleneck.
