OptiPlex 7010 Mini Tower desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 7010 Mini Tower is a desktop computer built around a 3rd Generation Intel Core i7-3770 processor running at 3.40 GHz. It comes with 16 GB of DDR3 memory and a 2.5-inch 1 TB solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro is pre-installed and a DVD±RW drive, USB keyboard and USB mouse are included.

Suited for office tasks; not for modern gaming

This system suits buyers who need a ready-to-use Windows 10 Pro machine for general office work, web browsing and legacy business applications. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 supports up to three displays for productivity setups. Buyers who want discrete graphics performance for current games or GPU-accelerated workloads should look at a different system.

16 GB DDR3 memory capacity

The installed memory is 16 GB of DDR3 running in a DIMM 240-pin form factor. The platform can be expanded to a maximum of 32 GB of DDR3 if additional capacity is required. Matching the DDR3 type and 240-pin form factor is essential for any memory upgrade.

Questions about this item

Will the 16 GB DDR3 memory need to be replaced later?

The system uses 240-pin DDR3 DIMM slots and supports up to 32 GB, so the installed 16 GB can be expanded rather than replaced if more capacity is needed.

What limits sustained performance first, the processor or the graphics?

The Intel Core i7-3770 reaches 3.90 GHz turbo under load while the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 tops out at 1.15 GHz, so graphics-heavy tasks hit the GPU ceiling before the CPU.

How much heat and noise should I expect when the tower runs all day?

The 3.40 GHz quad-core CPU and integrated graphics share the Mini Tower's airflow; under continuous load the processor can boost to 3.90 GHz, which increases fan activity and case temperature.
