OptiPlex 7010 SFF desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 7010 is a Small Form Factor desktop built around a 3rd Gen Intel Core i5-3470s quad-core processor running at 2.90 GHz with turbo up to 3.60 GHz. It ships with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 256 GB 2.5-inch solid-state drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed for immediate use in home or student environments.

Bundled peripherals and software

A USB keyboard and USB mouse are included so the system works straight out of the box. The integrated DVD±RW drive adds the ability to read and write optical discs for legacy media or software installation. Gigabit Ethernet provides wired network connectivity without extra adapters.

256 GB SSD capacity

The 256 GB solid-state drive determines how much applications, games and media can be stored locally before external storage is required. Buyers who need a larger internal volume for extensive libraries should consider that limitation. The DDR3 memory uses 240-pin DIMM modules, so any future upgrade must match that specification.

Questions about this item

Will the 8 GB of DDR3 memory need to be upgraded or replaced later?

The system ships with 8 GB of DDR3 installed. The board supports up to 32 GB of DDR3, so additional modules can be added if more capacity is needed.

Which limit appears first when the i5-3470s runs at its 3.60 GHz turbo for long periods?

The processor will drop from the 3.60 GHz turbo to its 2.90 GHz base frequency once thermal headroom is exhausted.

How much heat and fan noise should I expect from the SFF case during all-day use?

The small form factor chassis uses a compact cooler; under sustained load the fan speed rises noticeably, producing audible airflow and warm exhaust.
