Dell OptiPlex 7040 Tower desktop

The Dell OptiPlex 7040 is a tower desktop computer built around an Intel Core i5 6500 processor running at 3.2GHz. It comes with 8GB of DDR4 memory and a 256GB solid-state drive for the operating system and applications. A dedicated Radeon graphics card with 1GB of video memory handles display output through DisplayPort and DVI connections. No operating system is included with the unit.

Suitable for office tasks and legacy software

This system suits users who need a reliable desktop for general productivity, web browsing or older business applications that run on 6th-generation Intel architecture. The tower chassis provides internal space for additional drives or expansion cards using the available slots. Buyers who require a newer processor generation, higher memory capacity out of the box or a modern graphics architecture for current gaming titles should consider a different platform.

3.2GHz Core i5 6500 processor

The single specification that determines compatibility is the Intel Core i5 6500 CPU operating at 3.2GHz. This 6th-generation processor dictates the motherboard chipset, memory controller and instruction-set support for the entire system. Verify that your intended operating system and software are certified for this processor before purchase.
