Micro form-factor workstation

The Dell OptiPlex 7060 Micro is a compact desktop built around an Intel Core i7-8700T 2.4 GHz six-core processor. It ships with 16 GB DDR4 memory and a 512 GB SSD running Windows 11 Pro. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 handles display output through two DisplayPort connectors and a single USB Type-C port. This configuration suits home-office tasks and general business workloads.

Thermals and power in daily use

The low-power 8700T processor and small chassis are designed for quiet operation during typical office applications. Gigabit Ethernet and the included Wi-Fi adapter provide network connectivity without adding significant heat. Five USB 3.0 ports support peripherals while keeping cable clutter minimal. The system draws modest power under normal loads, helping to keep running costs low.

Build integration and limitations

The micro footprint allows placement behind a monitor or in tight desk spaces, freeing valuable surface area. No VGA, DVI or HDMI ports are present, so older displays require an active adapter or converter cable. Neither a monitor, keyboard nor mouse is included in the box. Buyers who need discrete graphics expansion, additional internal drive bays or legacy video outputs should consider a larger form factor.

Questions about this item

How is the OptiPlex 7060 Micro installed, and what step do people often miss?

Connect the power cord and plug monitors into the two DisplayPorts; the step people miss is that there is no HDMI, VGA or DVI port, so an adapter or special cable is required for older screens.

What maintenance or replacement will the 16 GB DDR4 memory need later?

The 16 GB DDR4 is soldered and not user-replaceable; if capacity becomes insufficient the only option is a new system rather than a memory upgrade.

What limit shows up first under sustained load on the Intel UHD Graphics 630?

Thermal throttling on the 6-core i7-8700T in the micro chassis limits sustained graphics performance before the 630 GPU itself saturates.
